Castle Advice Service is a community based Welfare Rights Advice Service serving
the Manor/ Castle, Norfolk Park and Arbourthorne areas of Sheffield. We offer a free and confidential advice service . We have an enthusiastic team of paid staff and volunteers.
Castle Advice Service was established in 1979 and has gradually
expanded its work since then. We advise the public on a wide range of issues: Benefits and Tax Credits, Debt, Housing,
Employment and Consumer issues. We provide a service through ‘Drop in’ Advice Sessions, Outreach Advice,
Appointments, Telephone Enquiries and Home Visits. We have specialist staff in the areas of Welfare Benefits and Debt
and the majority of our enquiries are in these two areas.
We set out to offer a high level of service to our clients both in terms of the quality
of the advice and casework and also in the way our clients experience an efficient service that takes account of their needs.
Our client feedback is consistently excellent and we feel that this is reflection of the quality of the work of all the staff
and volunteers.
Castle
Advice Service also advises in six local Children's Centres.
An important part of work is around training and supporting volunteer advisors.
Castle Advice Service is a member
of Advice UK and is funded by Sheffield City Council, The Legal Services Commission, The British Gas Energy Trust, Scottish
Power Energy Trust and The People's Postcode Trust.
